Check the number.
Before checking a hair tool for an international trip, match its model code and electrical rating to the manufacturer’s instructions. A familiar product name, color or purchase country does not establish which version you own.
Four details to read
- Model code. Find the model identification on your appliance or its rating label. Compare the complete code with the manual, including regional suffixes. If the label is missing or unreadable, ask the manufacturer to identify the tool before relying on a compatibility answer.
- Voltage, marked V. Read the complete rating. A continuous 100-240V range and separate 110-125V / 220-240V bands are different: the second does not include 100V.
- Frequency, marked Hz. Check this alongside voltage. A 50/60Hz rating covers both frequencies; a plug adapter does not change frequency.
- Power, marked W. The tool’s load matters when selecting an adapter. Matching the voltage alone does not establish that an adapter can carry the load or preserve the plug’s protective features.
Example: three StyleMax model codes
T3’s shared SinglePass StyleMax manual explicitly names 77590, 77592 and 77594. Its specification page gives these models the same 100-240V, 50/60Hz, 53W rating. The operating instructions describe automatic voltage adjustment and a polarized two-blade plug. We keep the model selections separate so you can match the number on your own tool.

These records cover the US electrical version described by the manual. Do not select the nearest-looking model if your code, rating or plug differs. The manual lists additional codes; a code appearing there does not automatically mean this checker has a reviewed record for it.
What the label cannot tell you
It does not prove that your hotel’s outlet accepts the plug or that an adapter is suitable. Even when voltage and frequency match, check the actual outlet, adapter rating and manufacturer instructions. Do not use a damaged tool, cord or adapter. We do not recommend a voltage converter as a workaround.
